| SREMA is reaching out for assistance with the current writings of the Pa Workers’ Compensation Act, whereas currently only the municipal appointed emergency management coordinator (EMC) is covered under the act, but any additional volunteers of the local EMA are not covered. Currently Pa House Bill 2807 that was passed recently in the Pa House of Representatives 199-2 is now at the Senate level under review in the Labor & Industry committee. 2807 makes an amendment covering all FIRE & EMS volunteers while participating in fundraising activities are not covered, we are reaching out to Representative Jones to research into PA HB 2807 which Jones voted in favor from the Pa House, with this current Bill to hopefully be able to ADD the verbiage which would then read under the local EMA that ALL VOLUNTEERS volunteering with the local municipal EMA would be covered under the Pa Workers’ Compensation Act! If we can get this addition to PA HOUSE BILL 2807 this would be a WIN/WIN if passed then back to house and then the Pa Senate and then if signed into law by the governor for all local EMA’S throughout Pennsylvania!!
